No appointment, no sales floor, no lanyards. Come on a Sunday morning if you want the place to yourself — it's the quietest we ever are.
We close for a fortnight from Christmas Eve, and on Shrovetide Tuesday and Wednesday, because in Ashbourne there is very little point trying to do anything else.
By car. Come out of Ashbourne on the old Derby road. Once you pass the garden centre, take the second left down the lane — there's a wooden sign with our name on it, and it is easy to miss. Parking is on the gravel by the hedge, not in the marked bays; those are cars we've sold.
By bus. The Derby service stops at the garden centre. It's a four-minute walk down the lane from there, though the lane has no pavement, so mind the corner.
By train. Nearest station is Uttoxeter, about twenty-five minutes away. If you're coming to collect a car, tell us your train and we'll pick you up — we do this most weeks and it's no trouble.
We answer email in the evenings, usually the same day. If it's urgent, the phone is better — and if nobody picks up, everyone's outside with a customer.

“If we're with someone when you arrive, help yourself to the kettle in the office. It's the door with the dog in front of it.”
